Your fax machine is not set properly to automatically receive faxes.  To fix this you must set your machine to auto receive mode.

OKI fax you press the auto receive button until Auto receive shows up on the display.

Brother fax you press the mode key until the light on the control panel is lit next to the word fax.  On some models the display may read fax only..
